Hi, everyone! I need some advice. I stopped going to community college about 5 years ago. I left with my AS degree and had about 3 more classes to attend before I could apply for the nursing program. I got married and had 2 children. Right now I'm at a position in my life where I think I want to go back to school but I'm scared because it's been so long. I know there's a lot of stuff I've forgotten in anatomy and biology and such and don't want to fail. Do you think I will have to or should retake classes? Also, I want to be able to still be involved in my childrens lives. If I were to become a nurse would I have the time or energy to still do things like my son's baseball games, etc.? Please help!! Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated.

Although it has been awhile since I was in school, I think anyone will tell you nursing school is all encompassing and you have to really want it to succeed. That doesn't mean it can't be done and you can't integrate your family life. However, you will have to sacrifice to achieve your goals. Good luck in your endeavors.

Hi,

Don't be scared! 5 years is nothing. I went back for a Bachelor's in Nursing after graduating in 1988, I have 5 children(youngest 16) and twin 14 mo old granddaughters. I've been doing fine(except for computer issues: I hate it). 20 credits away from graduation and I feel like quitting every semester;but I don't. Hang in there. Go for what you want!
